For healthcare and care organisations

You do not need more CVs. You need the shift covered.

Oakline works with care providers across Sheffield and South Yorkshire on two distinct problems: the shifts you have to cover this week, and the posts you need to fill properly. They are different problems, so we run them as different services.

Call us. A form is the wrong tool for an urgent gap.

Answered Monday to Friday during office hours. Outside those hours you can leave a voicemail or email and we will come back to you on the next working day. There is no 24-hour desk.

Two services

Cover and hiring are not the same job.

Treating them as one is why so much agency work feels transactional. A shift needs someone competent and available now. A permanent post needs someone who will still be there in two years.

Temporary

Healthcare staffing

Cover for shifts you cannot fill — sickness, vacancies, annual leave, a sudden increase in need, or a block of shifts while you recruit.

  • Support Workers and Healthcare Assistants
  • Senior and team leader cover
  • Registered Nurses: RGN, RMN, RNLD
  • Short-notice, block and ongoing cover
Permanent

Healthcare recruitment

Filling substantive posts properly — the roles where getting the wrong person costs far more than the fee you saved.

  • Care and support staff
  • Seniors, team leaders and deputies
  • Registered and clinical roles
  • Coordinators and service management
Who we work with

Services where the person matters more than the headcount.

We work with providers in and around Sheffield and South Yorkshire. If you are outside that area, ask — we will be honest about whether we can genuinely supply to you rather than take the enquiry and disappoint you.

Residential and nursing homes
Care and nursing staff across day, night and weekend rotas.
Supported living services
Consistent support for people in their own tenancies, where continuity matters most.
Learning disability and autism services
Staff who understand support needs rather than simply covering a shift.
Mental health services
Support Workers and registered mental health nurses.
Domiciliary and community services
Cover for rounds and community visits.
Complex and continuing care
Experienced staff where a package depends on specific competencies.
Compliance

What is done before anyone walks into your service.

This is the part that should not be interesting, and the part that matters most. We would rather show you the process than describe ourselves as thorough.

Identity and right to work

Verified before anyone is offered to you, and recorded.

DBS

An enhanced check appropriate to the role, obtained or verified. We record the type, the date and the reference.

Employment history and references

History reviewed and references sought, with gaps questioned rather than ignored.

Professional registration

Where a role requires it, registration is confirmed as current and unrestricted directly with the register.

Training and competency

Mandatory training recorded, with expiry dates tracked so nobody arrives out of date.

Role-specific requirements

Anything your service reasonably requires on top — tell us and it becomes part of the brief.

Records are available to you on request for anyone we supply, and we expect you to ask for them. When a worker is in your service they work under your policies, your supervision and your registration — our job is to make sure you can be confident in who we sent.

How we work

Four things we will do, and one we will not.

Nothing here is remarkable. It is simply what we would want from an agency if we were on your side of the phone.

Answer honestly about availability
If the shift is unlikely to be covered, you hear that in the first conversation, not at 6am on the day.
Send people who know the work
We brief candidates on your service and the role before they arrive. Arriving unprepared is a failure on our part, not theirs.
Aim for continuity
The same faces where we can. Familiarity is clinically and practically better than novelty.
Keep the paperwork straight
Checks, training records and expiry dates maintained so an inspection or an internal audit is uneventful.
Not fill a shift for the sake of filling it
We will not send someone who lacks the competence for your service in order to hit a number. Declining is sometimes the right answer.
Common questions

Straight answers, including the unhelpful ones.

How quickly can you cover a shift?

It depends entirely on the role, the location, the time of day and who is genuinely available. We will tell you what we can realistically do when you call, rather than accept a booking and hope.

The phone is answered Monday to Friday during office hours; outside them you can leave a voicemail or email and we will come back to you on the next working day. We do not operate an overnight booking line.

If we cannot cover something, we will say so quickly so you can try elsewhere. A late no-show is far more damaging to your service than an early no.

Do you have a minimum booking?

We would rather discuss what you actually need than publish rules. Single shifts, blocks, ongoing rota support and fixed-term cover while you recruit are all normal requests.

What are your rates?

Rates depend on the role, the shift pattern, the notice and the location, so a single published number would be misleading. We will give you clear rates for your specific requirement before you commit to anything, and we will not change them mid-booking without agreement.

So that you can compare us properly with another agency, a quote from us sets out all of the following, and says so explicitly where one does not apply: the role and the competence level it is charged at; the hours and shift type, including nights, sleep-ins and long days; the location; the notice given; any enhancement for weekends, bank holidays or short notice; any minimum booking length; the cancellation terms; and, if the conversation later turns into a permanent hire, the transfer fee that would apply. If any of those is missing from something we send you, ask — it is an omission, not a subtlety.

Can the same staff come back?

Wherever we can, yes, and we actively try to. Continuity is better for the people you support, better for your team and better for the worker. We cannot guarantee a specific individual’s availability, but we aim for familiar faces over a rotating cast.

Are you registered with the Care Quality Commission?

No. Oakline supplies staff to your service; it does not deliver a regulated service of its own. When a worker is on your premises they work under your policies, your supervision and your registration.

If you need a regulated provider to deliver care, we are not that — and we will tell you so rather than take the booking.

Do you hold any framework or contract with the NHS or a local authority?

We do not make claims about contracts, frameworks or endorsements on this website. If your procurement process requires specific arrangements, ask us directly and we will tell you plainly what is and is not in place.

Get started

Tell us what you need covering.

Two minutes on a form, or a phone call if it is urgent. Either way you will get a realistic answer rather than an optimistic one.
