For care and nursing professionals

Good people leave this work for avoidable reasons.

Being sent somewhere with no briefing. Not knowing the rate until the payslip. Being promised hours that never appeared. None of that is inevitable, and none of it is how we intend to work.

Three kinds of work

What sort of work are you looking for?

You do not have to decide now. Register once and we will talk it through properly.

Temporary

Shift work

Choose the shifts that suit you, across different services. Useful if you want flexibility, variety, or work alongside studying or another commitment.

About temporary work
Permanent

A substantive role

One employer, one team, a contract of your own. For when you want somewhere to build something rather than somewhere to fill a gap.

About permanent roles
Personal Assistant

Working for one person

Employed directly by the person you support or their family, through an arrangement Oakline helps set up. One relationship, real continuity.

What a PA role involves
Straight dealing

Four promises, and they are all about what we will not do.

We are a new group, so what we can offer you is not a wall of reviews but a clear statement of how we intend to treat you — specific enough that you can hold us to it.

We will not promise you hours we cannot provide
Registering with an agency — any agency — does not guarantee shifts. The honest answer is that it depends on what is available in your area, your availability and your experience.
We will not send you somewhere unbriefed
Before a shift you will know the service, the role, the hours, where to report and who to ask for. Walking in blind is not acceptable to us.
We will not pretend a role is something it is not
If a service is demanding or a rota is difficult, you will hear that from us beforehand rather than discover it on day one.
We will not quote pay rates we have not confirmed
Rates depend on the role, the setting, the shift pattern and the location. You will always be told the rate for a specific shift or role before you accept it, in writing.
What you will need

Nothing unusual, but nothing skipped either.

These checks exist to protect the people you will be supporting. We will help you get through them and tell you where you stand at each point.

Start registering
The right to work in the UK
Verified from original documents or a share code before you start. We cannot sponsor visas.
An enhanced DBS
Either one we obtain for you, or a current certificate on the update service that we can check.
Experience appropriate to the role
Some roles need specific experience; others welcome people new to care with the right attitude. Tell us where you are and we will be honest.
References we can actually take up
Covering your recent employment, including any gaps. Gaps are not a problem; unexplained gaps are.
Current registration, where relevant
For nursing roles, an active NMC registration without restrictions, which we confirm directly with the register.
Mandatory training
Up to date, or arranged with us before you start. We track expiry dates so you are not caught out mid-placement.

Please do not send us your NMC PIN, DBS certificate number or any health information through the website. We will ask for documents securely at the right stage, once we have spoken.

Common questions

The questions candidates ask first.

How do I register?

Complete the registration form. It takes a few minutes. We will come back to you for a proper conversation about what you are looking for before asking you for documents.

Does registering guarantee me work?

No, and we will not suggest otherwise. Whether we can offer you shifts or roles depends on what is genuinely available, where you can travel to, your availability and your experience.

We would rather tell you that up front than keep you waiting on a promise.

What pay can I expect?

It depends on the role, the setting, the shift pattern and where the work is. Anyone quoting you a single number without knowing those things is guessing.

You will be told the rate for any specific shift or role before you accept it, and you will never be asked to work without knowing what you are being paid.

I am new to care. Is there any point applying?

Yes, for some roles. Plenty of good Support Workers started with no care experience and the right temperament. Others — particularly nursing and complex care — genuinely require experience or registration.

Register and tell us honestly where you are. We will tell you honestly what is realistic.

Can I do both temporary shifts and look for a permanent role?

Yes, and many people do. Shifts keep income coming in while a permanent search runs, and working in different services is a good way to find out where you actually want to be.

Do you cover my area?

We work across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. If you are further out, register anyway and tell us how far you can travel — we will be straight with you about whether we are likely to have anything nearby rather than leaving you hoping.
